seismo

The rules, in plain words.

seismo turns the planet's quiet quakes into coins, and never its disasters. Every rule below runs automatically, on every quake, every minute.

No casualties, ever

A quake is excluded automatically if its USGS PAGER alert is yellow, orange or red, or if the USGS reports damage or casualties. The quake is checked again on its own USGS page before you sign and before the launch is sent.

No town names

Quakes are named by region only, never by the town they are measured from, and victims are never named. Only quakes with no casualties open a window.

Pause during a disaster

If any quake on Earth carries a PAGER orange or red alert in the last 7 days, every launch is suspended and the site says so, soberly.

M5.0 and up

Only quakes of magnitude 5.0 or more can be launched. A quake of M5.5 or more that has no PAGER alert yet waits for it, up to one hour.

Any time

Every eligible quake of the last 30 days can be launched until someone takes it. And a free coin, with no quake, can be launched at any time.

One quake, one coin

The first launcher takes the quake. The database lets a single launch per quake through: if someone sends first, yours is refused before anything is spent.

The coin's signature

Name and ticker: yours, as you type them; by default the name is the magnitude and the region (for example "M6.4 southeast of Easter Island"). Description: depth, coordinates, UTC time and the USGS id. Image: the quake's real seismogram, recorded by the nearest global station.

Market cap as a magnitude

M1 at 5 K, M5 at 100 K, M7 at 500 K, M9 at 5 M, log-linear in between. Each step is a multiple, like the Richter scale.

On Stonks

Coins launch on Stonks (Raydium LaunchLab, StonkFun config) in the pair you choose, signed in your wallet: you are the creator. Trading fees: 1 % to StonkFun, 0.25 % to Raydium, 0 % to the creator, 0 % to seismo.

Quakes: the USGS real-time feed (earthquake.usgs.gov), no key. PAGER alerts and impact reports: each quake's USGS event page. Seismograms: the IU and II global networks through the FDSN service of EarthScope. Nothing on this site is drawn by hand: every trace is a measurement.
